Why our playhouse is perfectly tailored to the psychological needs of children

As the founder of LIONHERZ, it is incredibly important to me that my products are not only beautiful to look at, but also fulfill the deep-seated needs of children. And this is about more than just fun and games. The playhouse is a wonderful example here, as it is far more than a classic children's toy. It is a retreat – a safe, protected space that meets children's psychological needs.

You should know that I love talking to my customers about the development of new products. For me, the feedback and inspiration I receive from doing so is priceless. After all, my products shouldn't just please me – they should above all put a smile on the faces of parents and their children and offer educational and psychological added value. I am therefore particularly proud of our new playhouse, which I developed in close cooperation with a customer who also works as a psychologist.

The inspiration behind our playhouse – A conversation with a psychologist

I repeatedly receive requests from psychologists and therapists who would like to purchase my products for their practices. Our teepees and play tents are particularly popular here, as they offer children a protected space where they can feel safe and secure.

Before developing our playhouse, I had an inspiring conversation with a customer/psychologist who gave me further valuable insights into how important such protected places really are for children, and shared what she had observed in her practice regarding what is particularly important in the design.

She explained to me that, from a psychological point of view, it is essential for children to have places where they can retreat completely. A playhouse that is COMPLETELY enclosed offers exactly the space children need to feel safe. The ability to close the door completely is a decisive factor in this. Children should have control over who is allowed to enter, and the freedom to invite someone in or be alone. In this way, they can settle in, protect themselves, and experience their privacy – an aspect that has special significance for children in today's fast-paced and often loud world.

What we focused on during the design of the playhouse

From this valuable conversation, the vision for our playhouse was born. We designed the house so that it is not just a playground for children, but a real retreat with educational and psychological value. Here are the most important features we paid special attention to:

• Completely closable door: The door of the playhouse is equipped with a transparent and an opaque curtain, unlike any other playhouse on the market. This allows the child to decide whether they want to be completely alone or let in a little light. This capability strengthens the sense of control and independence – important aspects for the development of self-confidence and autonomy.

• Inviting mailbox for role-play: On the front of the house, we have attached a unique, design-protected small mailbox. This simple addition gives the child the opportunity to greet and invite their "house visitors" themselves. This way, they can actively determine who is allowed to enter their own realm, set rules, or send small messages. The mailbox playfully promotes social interaction and gives the child the freedom to share the space as they wish.

• Timeless and neutral design: The cream-white color scheme of the playhouse is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also unisex and therefore equally suitable for boys and girls. The simple design is not distracting and allows the child to decorate the playhouse according to their own wishes and fill it with imagination.

• Cozy interior: A quilted, soft mat inside the playhouse ensures that the child sits comfortably and cozily. A retreat must not only be psychologically safe, but also physically. Therefore, we placed value on the coziness and well-being inside. By the way, my son has already fallen asleep in it quite often, that’s how cozy it must be :)

• Decorative loops for customization: To make the room even more personal, we attached loops to the roof where the child can fasten decorative items or the included bunting. It allows the playhouse to be given a personal touch and for the child to customize the space and see it as their "own little home." This fastening option is missing from every other playhouse on the market, making it impossible to attach things without them falling off.

More than just a toy – A place of security

Our playhouse is more than just a toy. It is a place of comfort and safety where the child has the freedom to create their own world and immerse themselves in their imagination. This is an important aspect, especially in a world that is often loud and full of impressions for children. A retreat like our playhouse offers children a space that is entirely their own and that they can control themselves. This promotes not only creativity, but also self-confidence and social skills.

A passion project for LIONHERZ

For me personally, this playhouse is a passion project. The cooperation with my customer and her psychological insights from practice have shown me how important it is to develop products that truly address the needs of children. I am proud to offer a playhouse that supports the psychological and educational development of children while simultaneously providing joy.

I hope that this playhouse becomes a small, protected place of comfort in many children's rooms and that it brings a smile to the faces of the children – and the parents, too.
