The perfect gift for starting kindergarten or school -> a play tent!
The first day of kindergarten. The first day of school. Both are major milestones in our children's lives—and incredibly emotional moments for us parents, too. I still remember exactly how exciting and simultaneously exhausting those first days were: new rooms, new faces, new routines. Our little ones master this with so much courage, but that is exactly what also takes an enormous amount of energy.
And this is where my passion project comes into play: retreat spaces.
Children need a safe harbor
As a psychologist, I know how important it is for children to have a place where they can process all their impressions in peace. A retreat space acts like a safe harbor where they feel secure and are allowed to decide for themselves: "Now I want to be alone. Now I need some quiet time."
Especially after a day full of new experiences at school or kindergarten, children need time to sort out their thoughts and feelings. If we adults are honest: we, too, are happy after a long day at work to close the door behind us and take a deep breath. It is no different for children.
A gift that means more than a toy
Of course, a play tent doesn't fit into a school cone. But perhaps that is exactly what makes this gift so special. While sweets or small toys are quickly used up or forgotten, a play tent remains a faithful companion for many years.
It is not just a place to play. It is a space for imagination, creativity, and above all, comfort. A play tent can invite dreaming and reading books, serve as a little oasis of calm after an exciting day, offer a stage for role-playing and adventures, or simply be a cozy nest where one feels safe.
Psychologically valuable – why it is so important
Studies show that children who have the opportunity to withdraw on their own terms develop a higher level of emotional stability. Retreat spaces foster the ability to self-regulate. Children learn to recognize their own needs and respond to them. Those who find rest regularly approach new challenges with more strength and build resilience. And children unfold their creativity best in protected spaces.
As a mom, I see this with my own child: when he retreats into his tent, I can feel him organizing his little world, calming down, and then returning to family life full of energy.
Conclusion: A gift for the heart
A play tent may not fit into a school cone, but it fits into something much bigger: your child's childhood memories. It is a gift that signals: "I see you. I know that you sometimes need peace and quiet. And here is a place just for you."
Especially at the start of kindergarten or school, where everything is new, loud, and exciting, a little personal retreat space is a valuable companion. That is why I am convinced: a play tent is one of the most beautiful gifts you can give a child for this special occasion.
